The Island
Once known as British Honduras, the official
language of Belize is English.
Ambergris Caye is the largest island in Belize, situated just off of the North East coast in the Gulf of Mexico. Ambergris Caye is an extension of the peninsula that extends from the south eastern tip of Mexico. To the north of Ambergris is Xcalak, Mexico. The west side of the peninsula is Chetumal Bay. An area known for some of the greatest concentrations of permit anywhere in the world.
San Pedro is the only town on Ambergris. San Pedro has many wonderful shops and restaurants. The main vehicle of transportation on the island is via golf cart. The lodge has golf carts available to borrow so that you can travel to town and around the island.
The area has also become a favourite vacation spot for many American and Canadian tourists. With the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world just 500 meters off shore, Ambergris is almost as important to the dive community as it is to the fly-fishing community.
The Lodge
Located 4 miles south of San Pedro on the southern tip of Ambergris Caye, Belize, this amazing lodge will prove to be everything you would expect from a 5-star fishing lodge at a fraction of the price.
The luxury main lodge is a beautifully appointed building that would be as comfortable in a fly-fishing magazine as it would be in the latest design magazine. The expansive dining and living room area overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and the barrier reef to the east. The main lodge includes six private state rooms all with ensuite bathrooms, showers and individually operated air conditioning. The spacious state rooms are decorated with Belizean mahogany furniture and beamed ceilings with Queen- or King-sized pillow top beds. All rooms open out to their own deck facing the Gulf. The downstairs deck wraps around the pool that features a swim up bar and seating area.
Completed in 2020, the Villa features 4 additional rooms, each with its own balcony overlooking the Caribbean Ocean. Each room was custom designed and decorated with Belizean hardwoods, tile floors and king and queen pillow top beds.
Want to bring a non-fishing spouse or partner, not a problem. The lodge sits on a white sandy beach where you can choose to relax in a hammock under the shade of a palapa or swinging seat under the poolside pergola.
Kayaks, stand up paddle boards and bicycles are available for our guests. Want to explore the island on your own. The primary mode of transportation on the island is by golf cart. The lodge has golf carts available to guests to travel into San Pedro to experience the island life.

Bonefish: 7-8wt rods with floating bonefish taper fly lines. 10-12lbs fluorocarbon tapered leaders.
Flies: #8-6 unweighted and lightly weighted flies. Bring plenty. Christmas island specials – tan/pink, tan/orange, Bonefish Bitters – Tan, olive, Squimp – Tan, Gotcha – Tan, Pink, Orange, EP Spawning Shrimp – Tan/orange, Mantis Shrimp – Tan, Bonefish Clouser – Tan/white, Crazy Charlies – white, pink, tan.
Permit: 9-10wt rods with floating permit taper fly line. 12-15lbs fluorocarbon tapered leaders.
Flies: weighted.# 4 through #1/0. SS Merkin Crab, Bauer Crab – tan, EP Spawning Shrimp – tan, Avalon Fly, Ultra-Shrimp, EP Crab, SS permit crab, Flexo-Crab, SS B-Turd.
Tarpon: 10-12wt rods with floating Tarpon tapers & intermediate sink tip lines. 40/50/60lbs straight fluorocarbon leader or 20lbs leader with an 60-80lbs bite tippet.
Flies: #1/0 - 3/0. Tarpon Toad – chartreuse, white, purple/black, black/red, Black Death, Cockroach, EP Minnow – white, tan/white, chartreuse/white, Tarpon Bunny – purple/black, black/red, white.

Travel
Travellers are responsible for all flights.
Belize City, Belize is the destination airport for travelling to Ambergris Caye. Most major airlines fly into Belize City. Once you arrive in Belize City you can take a short 15-minute flight to San Pedro on Tropic Air or Maya Island Air. If staying at the lodge, once you arrive at the airport in San Pedro our staff will meet you and transport you to the lodge.
