Brown Trout, Atlantic Salmon and Pike
Located in southwest Ireland close to the Ring of Kerry and a 15-minute drive from Limerick is the historic town of Adare. Regarded as being Ireland’s prettiest and most picturesque village. Surrounded by medieval castles, a 14th century Franciscan Friary, Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort, streets lined with thatched cottages and cold running trout streams makes Adare an ideal location to enjoy an Irish vacation.
The Irish hospitality and personalities are hard to match anywhere. But best of all, there are numerous Brown Trout streams in the area as well as the opportunity to fish for Atlantic Salmon and Pike.
The Irish countryside around Adare is lush and green with beautiful rolling hills. Fishing and the hatches don’t get going until the sun hits the water. Depending on the weather the trout tend to sleep in. Maybe it’s because of the warming influence of the sun or maybe they were up late enjoying a couple of pints of Guinness. You will fish the River Maigue and Deel as well as some secret streams on private land for brown trout. Atlantic Salmon fishing takes place in either County Kerry or on the Shannon in the scenic village of Castelconnell. Our guide has been fly fishing for over 40 years and guiding for 15. He can supply all of the equipment that you may need. Including: rods, waders, boots, rain-gear and flies.
There is a range of accommodations in Adare from the ultra beautiful Adare Manor Golf Resort, outstanding cottage rentals just outside of town and you can even rent your own Irish castle right on the river Maigue. I highly recommend staying at the cottages. Located on a farm just 5 minutes from the town of Adare. There is a historic thatched cottage and a renovated stone barn. Both can be rented by the day or by the week.
Adare is the ideal location for not only fishing but also easy access to some of the most storied golf courses in the world. Ballybunion, Waterville, Lahinch and Tralee golf courses are all within an easy drive from Adare. And of course the Adare Manor Golf Resort is a world-class venue hosting a European Tour event each year.
